[Bug 922370] New: Updating NetworkManager stack to version 0.9.10.2
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=922370 Bug ID: 922370 Summary: Updating NetworkManager stack to version 0.9.10.2 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: 13.2 Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME Assignee: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: badshah400@gmail.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- The NetworkManager stack has bug-fix releases in the 0.9.10.x branch. It would be useful to push this as a maintenance update for openSUSE 13.2. If this sounds reasonable, I will start working on the update. This would affect the following packages: ==NetworkManager== Version 0.9.10.2: * Kernel 'cache' routes (such as those added by IPv6 operations) are ignored, preventing unwanted CPU usage * Vala bindings for libnm-glib async methods have been added * Some interactions with external OpenVPN daemon default routes have been fixed * Fixed usage of libnm-glib connectivity checking from garbage-collected languages * An unusual delay acquiring a DHCP lease with dhcpcd has been fixed * A libnm-glib crash has been fixed when multiple NMClients are created * A failure to pass certificate blobs to wpa_supplicant has been fixed * A failure to send the inner private key password to wpa_supplicant has been fixed * nmcli now returns earlier when activating master interfaces * nmtui password fields now correctly display the password * The IPv6 hop limit is no longer mistakenly set to 0 in some cases * Some DHCPv6 failures are no longer fatal * Handling of DHCP 'nak' and 'expire' states has been fixed in some cases * WiFi band locking has been fixed * Support for Bluetooth DUN with Bluez5 has returned * Non-local users can now control networking after authenticating with PolicyKit * Externally added routes no longer have their metrics overwritten * Some child interfaces (eg VPN or WWAN) are no longer deconfigured when recognized * Support for the PrimaryConnection D-Bus property has been backported * IPv6 RDNSS/DNSSL forced expiration is now handled properly * An invalid route to the DHCP server is no longer added in some configurations * A crash when external master/slave changes were made has been fixed * Various nmtui bugs for slaves, WiFi, and IP address buttons have been fixed * DHCP no longer fails due to SIGPIPE when the systemd journal is restarted * Unmanaged slaves are now updated correctly when they disappear * Cooperation with external team interfaces has been fixed * Bridge STP property ranges are now properly checked * Manager state is now properly updated on resume * Slave interfaces are no longer released on exit * Static IPv6 configuration is now added before SLAAC is started * Allow shared connections to be started without a carrier * A crash when disconnecting older Nokia phones has been fixed * Layer 2-only connections (those without IP configuration) are now allowed * Sending a DDNS hostname via DHCPv6 is now more reliable * Connections are now assumed for slave interfaces * Assumed connections are no longer disconnected automatically ==NetworkManager-openconnect== Version 0.9.10.2: * Updated translations * HOTP (HMAC-based One Time Password) token support has been added * Support for libopenconnect.so.4 has been added * Support for libopenconnect.so.1 has been dropped Version 0.9.10.1: ==NetworkManager-openvpn== Version 0.9.10.2: * Updated translations * Fix some issues with selection of PKCS#12 certificates ==NetworkManager-pptp== Version 0.9.10.2: * Updated translations ==NetworkManager-vpnc== Version 0.9.10.2: * Updated translations -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Is there any progress on the network manager update?
There are two bugs I am affect by which depend on this NM update: https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=916737 https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=905639
It would be nice to get them fixed by releasing the update to the general public :-)
Hi Joschi! I was working on the 0.9.10.2 update (which is why it exists over at https://build.opensuse.org/project/show/home:badshah400:boo922370 ) but from tests on my system, it seemed that this update caused the wifi connections to become very flaky (disconnecting intermittently). There haven't been significant tests by anyone else to prove that this was some odd quirk with my system alone, so I have been kind of wary of pushing this out after having done all work to get it ready in the first place. If you can test this on a few machines (the wifi specifically) and let me know everything works just fine, I think we could go ahead and push this out. But NM is a core component, so we have to be sure before we do that; you see? There has also been considerable upstream work on this branch since v0.9.10.2 came out [see http://cgit.freedesktop.org/NetworkManager/NetworkManager/log/?h=nm-0-9-10] but not a tagged release yet. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
