[Bug 374521] New: Hardware setup wrongly identifies Dell 1501 display panel
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=374521 Summary: Hardware setup wrongly identifies Dell 1501 display panel Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Factory Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: noble@patriot.net QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: Customer I am reporting this in conjunction with testing of SuSE 11 Alpha 3 because I had hoped the glitch would have been caught by now. It is a problem in both the Gnome and KDE versions of SuSE 10.3 that has carried over to SuSE 11. Not previously reported by me. During the final hardware configuration, the display panel for the Dell Inspiron 1501 is wrongly identified as: LPL CD516 154W01 LCD Monitor The panel should be identified as: Dell 1280X Laptop Display Panel The aspect ratio and resolution are correctly identified. Accepting the LPL monitor choice is, at least for this user, almost always fatal. The display (which was working fine during installation) becomes unusable, with a movable block of colored bars about 1 x 1.5 inches on a solid background. I've not found a way to escape from the error condition and select the correct panel if "Finish" is pressed. The computer is a Dell Inspiron 1501 with an AMD Turion 64 X2 chip and a 15.4" widescreen WXGA display with native resolution of 1280x800. Video is provided by an ATI Radeon Express 1150 chipset. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
