[Bug 1200541] New: Tumbleweed Kernel 5.18.1 nvme SUBNQN not valid quirk is likely not enabled

http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1200541 Bug ID: 1200541 Summary: Tumbleweed Kernel 5.18.1 nvme SUBNQN not valid quirk is likely not enabled Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel Assignee: kernel-bugs@opensuse.org Reporter: jibril.esa@gmail.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- under Tumbleweed when upgrading to kernel 5.18.1 or 5.18.2 I have 2 NVME SSD from the same manufacturer lspci - nn output Non-Volatile memory controller [0108]: Phison Electronics Corporation E12 NVMe Controller [1987:5012] (rev 01) I get a fault after boot and only one nvme SSD is recognized. error message is duplicate IDs for nsid. under kernel 5.17.4-1-default I don't get this error. My understanding is that in previous kernels there was a quirk enabled for SSD manufacturers that exhibited this issue. under kernels 5.18.1, 5.18.2 and 5.17.4 if i execute dmesg and grep for nvme I see the message missing or invalid SUBNQN field. can you review and reenable NVME_QUIRK_IGNORE_DEV_SUBNQN if this is this is issue? Also note in my case multipath should be disbaled, as the ssd are used independently -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

This is a bug in the firmware. Upstream added an additional check recently. Hence you see this fallout. There is already a fixed queued up for 5.19: https://lore.kernel.org/linux-nvme/20220613144549.232686-1-kbusch@fb.com/ -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
