[Bug 460151] New: Multiple network interfaces are unconfigurable at install time
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=460151 Summary: Multiple network interfaces are unconfigurable at install time Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: HP OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: christopher@pobox.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: Customer All HP Proliant DL-series machines come with 2 embedded ethernet NICs. During installation - your code either "gets it wrong" when suggesting to us which MAC will be assigned to which "eth" device, or, internally, it mixes up the answers we configure. How to reproduce the problem: 1. Set up a PC with 2 ethernet cards. 2. connect each card to a physically different network - for example - connect "card 1" to 10.0.0.0 and "card 2" to 192.168.0.0. 3. install openSUSE 11.1 4. configure the 2 cards during installation 5. from another PC - attempt to "ping" the new openSUSE 11.1 machine's new IPs when it brings them up. You will observe 1 of 2 possible outcomes: A) You cannot ping it, because you set up the 10.0.0.0 IP on your 192.168.0.0 network by mistake and vice-versa B) it pings OK. Regardless of the above - click "back" on the openSUSE 11.1 installation and attempt to "swap" what you've done. You will find this is impossible. While you are able to change waht you've entered, and/or to delete it and re-enter the settings in the opposite order - you will never be able to A) make it so you can ping your changes later, if you were unable to do so in step (A) above, and/or B) you will always still be able to ping it, even if you change it so that you should technically be *unable* to do so, in the event you got it right in step (B) above already. In other words - you're either "sorting" what we put in, making certain combinations of MACs and IPs impossible, or, you're "caching" what we enter, macking the "back" button unable to ever function, or some such bug like that. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
