I contacted compiz upstream and well, it did get fixed upstream but in a very incompatible / close to impossible to be back-ported way. Thus, considering it's low impact (well, yes: it would be nice if it worked, but it's not really a feature adding a lot of value), I, with your consensus, would like to forward this ticket to openSUSE 11.5 and make sure this will not break in the next release.
