[Bug 210889] New: [Hungarian:] OOorg menus have German (!) shortcut names.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=210889 Summary: [Hungarian:] OOorg menus have German (!) shortcut names. Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Alpha 4 Platform: Other OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Translations AssignedTo: ke@novell.com ReportedBy: balazs.melikant@univie.ac.at QAContact: ke@novell.com CC: kkemenczy@novell.com, balazs.melikant@univie.ac.at Using Hungarian as primary and English as secondary language, it is surprising to have German shortcut names as e.g. Umschalt, Strg or Leertaste. I have German keyboard, but that shouldn't be used to make up thei menu items, right?! -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=210889 pmladek@novell.com changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |pmladek@novell.com AssignedTo|pmladek@novell.com |mmeeks@novell.com ------- Comment #4 from pmladek@novell.com 2006-10-26 12:34 MST ------- I can confirm it. It is not translation problem. It is a feature. I see English hotkeys with English keyboard, German hotkeys with German keyboard, ... It is interesting. I agree that the mixed languages in menu looks strange. On the other hand, for example, the label "Strg" is really used on the native German keyboard. Well, I think that the main problem is that it is not configurable. We should add an option for this into the dialog "Tool/Options.../Language Settings/Languages". I am only a bit scared of so many options. Michael, what do you think about it, who could solve it? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=210889 ------- Comment #5 from balazs.melikant@univie.ac.at 2006-10-27 14:20 MST ------- It was a while ago, but during my admin days, using exclusively German keyboard(s) I don't remember to have "Umschalt" button on any of them! Now I'm on a laptop, still having German keyboard and here I could find at least "Strg", but still no "Umschalt":( I have some other, more interesting buttons, like Südbahnhof (S-Abf) or UnterDerBrücke (Untbr), just hoping that OOorg has some nice extra functionality for all of them ;) Ps. I checked the keyboard of my router, still no "Umschalt", but to be honest, sounds somehow familiar to me. Anyway, I'm Hungarian, speaking whole day English at my place and using exclusively German keyboard; I'm pretty happy with the quite limited number of special characters available, but please don't push people to learn German names for special keys. If a user chose English as locale(s), everything should take that setting by default. Or at least this is my private opinion. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
