Networkmanager cannot connect. I switch to ifup: smpppd and some other pkgs get installed: imediately online. Install finishes, no updates, still online wifi. The updates show, i unmark rt2860, it still gets installed: no more wifi. I uninstall all networkmanager pkgs and rt2860, still no wifi. I update yast2 base and network: essid stays saved, but still network is down. I reboot router, no wifi. Seems like the driver tries to load a firmware image directly from disk :) which does not exist. Not sure if that is the problem but could you please check if you have the file /etc/Wireless/RT2860STA/RT2860STA.dat? Nevertheless, this is a staging driver. You first have to write a supplicant configuration file as described at [1] and use this file as -c/xxx parameter. However, I guess it would be much simpler to just turn on wpa_supplicant debug (also described at [1]) and try to set the connection up using NetworkManager.
