[Bug 487735] New: rpm should not verify md5,size and mtime for config(noreplace)
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=487735 Summary: rpm should not verify md5,size and mtime for config(noreplace) Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Alpha 0 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: mls@novell.com ReportedBy: jreidinger@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de CC: prusnak@novell.com Found By: Development We have similar problem as red hat (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=329811) for many packages. Problem is that if user run yast2 repair it verifies packages and mark each changed configuration file as not verified. I think this is not correct, as each configuration file which have %config(noreplace) should be changed and package is still valid. So michael, is possible to fix it in rpm? Another solution should be use same thing as red hat and add to each package %verify(not md5 size mtime) but it is quite much of work and I think, that fix behavior rpm verify on config(noreplace) is better solution. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Why can't yast2 repair not just ignore config files?
It is possible, but some configuration file should be checked, e.g. in sudo package %config %{_sysconfdir}/pam.d/sudo . This configuration file should be checked, as it is not intended that user change it. I think, that only configfile with noreplace should be ignored. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
