On KDE 4.3 print-screen does work... it is set in the 'global keyboard shortcuts' component 'hotkeys'. Interestingly this is the only shortcut for that kde component - is this as it should be? As you can see in the attached screen shot, after updating KDE from 4.2 to 4.3, the kwin settings for "desktop/window screeshot to clipboard" point to alt/ctl+print shortcuts and these don't work.
