[Bug 948369] New: Having an XBox One controller plugged in to the system prevents boot
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=948369 Bug ID: 948369 Summary: Having an XBox One controller plugged in to the system prevents boot Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Factory Version: 2015* Hardware: x86-64 OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Other Assignee: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: Peter@CorrosiveTruths.org QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- In latest Tumbleweed here. Having an XBox One controller plugged in to the system prevents it from booting. I get the plymouth boot screen in full (with no gradual fade) and then the computer is unresponsive, I can't even dismiss the plymouth screen. And that's all I know. I'm not sure what else to add, is there a logfile you would need? Please let me know, as this is, as you can imagine, quite annoying. Workaround: Unplug it. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

lsusb results in nothing, it just seems to stop and can't be killed or backgrouded.
So instead find the entry from /proc/bus/input/devices.
lsusb not being able to be killed (not even with kill -9 ?) sounds strange and could point towards a kernel problem. you could try to use strace lsusb to see where it gets stuck and dmesg|tail -30 to see if the kernel prints something about it. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Sorry for the delay, a newer kernel is building at https://build.opensuse.org/project/ monitor?project=home%3Aoneukum%3Abnc948369b
No problem, I'm delighted that you took a rather vague bug report that I didn't really know how to report and you've actually fixed my issue. Thank you so much; with the new kernel the system now boots absolutely fine with no added delay. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
