[Bug 678763] New: kernel 2.6.37 freezes laptop within seconds after or during boot. No oops, just - nothing...
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=678763 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=678763#c0 Summary: kernel 2.6.37 freezes laptop within seconds after or during boot. No oops, just - nothing... Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Final Platform: x86 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jpoortvliet@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.2.13) Gecko/20101203 SUSE/3.6.13-0.2.1 Firefox/3.6.13 kernel 2.6.37 freezes the laptop at some point after or during boot. No oops, just - nothing. Sometimes the screen goes slowly white (real scary). It can take a few minutes to happen; or it can happen during the first 10 seconds of booting up that nothing happens anymore. The system works fine with 11.3 and even newer kernels up to 2.6.37; So openSUSE 11.4 doesn't work. Any info I can give to help solve this... It's a netbook, N450, 2 gb ram, brand 'microboard'. I believe it has a broadcom wifi chip which does never work, btw :D cheers, Jos Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.boot up 2.wait o click around (if it boots up at all) 3. Actual Results: full freeze, nothing happens, no oops, no output anywhere. capslock light stops working (that is the telltale sign something is wrong...) Anything I can do to debug this?!?
You said that other Kernels work? Can you try this? http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Kernel_of_the_day Is your BIOS up to date? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
