If the X server doesn't freeze until tomorrow afternoon, the problem will be probably gone and I'll post it here as the requested info. I used the previously posted xorg.conf for it, please give me hint if there is something wrong in it. Same issue with 'nomodeset'?
No freeze so far, seems to be stable with 'nomodeset'. Anyway, there is an effect as I already reported in https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=605171#c9 for OpenSUSE 11.2 - just subjective, the system slows down with the radeon driver everytime after a few hours, which I haven't noticed before with other graphics drivers.
