http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=606315 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=606315#c0 Summary: Improving Encrypted drives, Bug 4 (Repairing a system w encrypted partitions) Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Factory Platform: All OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: iridis.p@gmail.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US) AppleWebKit/533.4 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/5.0.375.38 Safari/533.4 Hello, this is part of a series of bugs related to encrypted partitions, thanks. 4) If the installation dvd is used to repair grub bootloader of an installed system that have any encrypted partition, the bootloader is not installed properly or does not detect other operating systems such as Windows. I think that the problem is that the code is not installed to MBR or boot partition, but 'somewhere else' instead. It might be just me as well, since the problem is quite odd, one day I tried the process with different variables of the yast bootloader module, the process would finish 'successfully' but the new bootloader would just just not be found on reboot, and neither Windows(sda3) or openSUSE(sda2) would be detected, so my only option in grub was 'floppy' I have only sata drives and a separate sda1 for /boot Oh, and some times the bootloader would request to be installed to a floppy, but even clicking 'cancel' yast reply that the process finished successfully while it is not. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: I's complicated... -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

It is hard to say what really happened if you play with settings in yast2-bootloader without yast logs. The problem with writing settings to floppy should be already fixed. Please attach yast2 logs from your experimenting with yast2-bootloader. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
