My network connection is fixed address, and without DHCP. It froze at: First run from harddrive Automatic Configuration Configuring network... Creating automatic configuration At this point the system would not proceed nor give me the opportunity to supply the addresses manually. How can I get to the logs when I can't complete the install? The install completely locks up, all I can do is power down and start over. If I did a successful new install, which is easy if I connect to a network which DHCP, won't the logs be deleted since the new install will replace everything on the disc? Perhaps I could put in another disc and do a successful install and put the failed install disc in as a second drive. Simply set the router to disable DHCP on the LAN. When the install reaches automatic configuration near the end it will try to configure the network using DHCP and lock up with no possibility of moving forward. If instead you set the router to enable DHCP on the LAN and start over the install will complete successfully. I have repeated this failure on several different machines and do not have any more time to deal with it. I don't know how to provide the yast2 logs and really can't spend any more time on this. When (if) there is a Alpha 3 release I will try this again and report the problem if it has not been fixed. Incidentally the problem must have been introduced subsequent to openSUSE-11.0-DVD-i386-iso as that release completes successfully with DHCP disabled on the LAN. When installed with a network conneciton without DHCP the automatic configuration stage attempts to obtain addresses and after a while fails and continues onward rather than locking up. You can then manually configure the network later.
