The problem with xhost is that it allows _every_ user (with a login on your machine, even if he logs in over SSH) to access your X server. This means not only things like "display kwrite in superuser mode", but can also mean things like "run an (invisible) keylogger and steal some passwords". Nice security problem :-( which means xhost is not recommended...
