http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=497311 Summary: yast2 sw_single 'upgrade all' gives no results, zypper up gives results Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: libzypp AssignedTo: zypp-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jnelson-suse@jamponi.net QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686 (x86_64); en-US; rv:1.9.0.8) Gecko/2009032600 SUSE/3.0.8-1.1.1 Firefox/3.0.8 I usually use yast2 sw_single to upgrade all packages. I noticed this morning that 'zypper up' says there are upgraded packages, and yast2 sw_single does not. I generated a test case, and will be attaching shortly. http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=497311 User ma@novell.com added comment http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=497311#c5 Michael Andres <ma@novell.com> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|NEW |RESOLVED CC| |ma@novell.com Resolution| |FIXED --- Comment #5 from Michael Andres <ma@novell.com> 2009-09-07 07:57:26 MDT --- This is because the UI selectable does not take the vendor (nor the solvers allowVendorChange flag) into account, when looking for update candidates. So the UI prefers the packages from repo-update due to the higher repo priority, not recognizing the undesired vendor change. Fortunately the packages in repo-update have lower versions than the ones in KDE:KDE4:Factory:Desktop_1. So nothing gets selected. Fixed in libzypp-6.12.0. (11.2) Apart from this bug, 'zypper up' will usually provide the better result, as zypper leaves it to the solver to detect packages to update, while the UI tries to anticipate what the solver would do. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
