[Bug 1129753] New: kernel: Excessive changelog size
http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1129753 Bug ID: 1129753 Summary: kernel: Excessive changelog size Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 15.1 Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel Assignee: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: amajer@suse.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Hi, I've noticed that the kernel is carrying along an excessively large .changes file. This severely bloats the .rpms. For example, -rw-r----- 1 root root 5770800 Mar 19 13:17 /var/cache/zypp/packages/repo-oss/noarch/kernel-docs-4.12.14-lp151.21.10.noarch.rpm So, 5MB file, but rpm -qpi /var/cache/zypp/packages/repo-oss/noarch/kernel-docs-4.12.14-lp151.21.10.noarch.rpm | grep Size Size : 525131 So 90% of the .rpm is .changes dating all the way from 2009. Do we need it like this? Can't this be trimmed to changes relevant to the modern codestreams? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
