[Bug 246092] New: gnome screensaver unlock window non logical arrowkey responce
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=246092 Summary: gnome screensaver unlock window non logical arrowkey responce Product: SUSE Linux 10.1 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: SuSE Linux 10.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: s.handgraaf@xs4all.nl QAContact: qa@suse.de On systems running default final SuSE Linux 10.1 with Gnome the unlock window of the Gnome screensaver shows non logical responce to arrow key use. When the screensaver is active the unlock window can be prompted with any keypress or mous movement. This window asks the user for an unlock password and shows three buttons beneeth the textfield for the password. This window shows non logical behaviour to the use of arrow keys. Using the up and down arrow keys makes the focus move through the window field and buttons. The left and right arrow keys show no behavior except activating the window from a blanked screen. Although the responce to the arrowkeys can be a fine feature besides the function of the tab button for moving the focus, it is also not consistent with expected window focus behaviour, not conform the gnome accessability standard, is a pain when trying to use keys to activate the window and then start to type the password and minimizes the number of keys to show the window without affecting the window behaviour. For this I propose to eighter disable the focus movement responce to the up/down arrow key pressing (since this is where the tab key is for), or at least add a configuration option to disable this focus behaviour. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Several apps use the up/down arrow keys to move focus so not sure about disabling that but if not at least the inconsistency needs fixed regarding 1. 'down' cycles between cancel and unlock but 'up' does not 2. when the buttons have focus 'left' just cycles between the 3 buttons and 'right' eventually sticks you back in the text entry. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
