[Bug 776782] New: Printing fails with newtorked Samsung printer using IPP interface
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=776782 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=776782#c0 Summary: Printing fails with newtorked Samsung printer using IPP interface Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: RC 2 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.2 Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Printing AssignedTo: jsmeix@suse.com ReportedBy: volker.barth@web.de QAContact: jsmeix@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:14.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/14.0.1 Using a networked Samsung SCX-4833FD under 12.2 RC 2 fails, when trying to use the IPP interface of the printer (worked fine under openSuSE 12.1). Setup finishes without error messages (both YaST module and CUPS web page), however, one is unable to print out any page using IPP. The relevant error messages in /var/log/cups/error_log are: E [...] Unable to open print file: No such file or directory E [...] Unable to add document to print job. Changing the interface to AppSocket/HP JetDirect solves the problem, printing works without problem. According to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/973270 other brands of printers are affected too. This problem is caused by buggy implementations of the IPP on the side of the printer, CUPS is not to be blamed. Therefore I'd recommend to add a warning/information message about this problem and its solution at the appropriate place (both YaST module and CUPS printer setup page). Reproducible: Always -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
