[Bug 505289] New: Annoying Type-ahead-find Sound
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=505289 Summary: Annoying Type-ahead-find Sound Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Milestone 1 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Firefox AssignedTo: bnc-team-mozilla@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: binner@kde.org QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1b4) Gecko/20090426 SUSE/3.5b4-3.1 Firefox/3.5b4 The type-ahead-find sound when the phrase is not found is very annoying: it's a long, lound beep via pc speaker. Nice to get some attention in a meeting or presentation when you have your computer explicitely muted otherwise via sound volume control applet. ;-) It should be either disabled by default (accessibility.typeaheadfind.enablesound=false) or use the desktop infrastructure sound system (like under Windows). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Actually on Linux the default is "beep" for that certain sound. I would like to try to set it to "default" which _should_ actually play a wav which is delivered in xulrunner/toolkit. I said "should" because it doesn't work for me and I only get silence. I'm not sure if that is because esound isn't properly working on my system (since ESD is used in Firefox since the early ages). Please give it a try: accessibility.typeaheadfind.soundURL;default -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
