[Bug 731578] New: DVD Burner hardlocks after first successful burn
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=731578 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=731578#c0 Summary: DVD Burner hardlocks after first successful burn Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: RBrownCCB@opensuse.org QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Behaviour: After a cold boot, my workstation can burn a single DVD or CD. If I try to burn a single DVD, the drive 'locks up' during the second burn, no longer responding in any way, to any software or hardware commands (ie. even the eject button stops working) A reboot gets the drive operational again. The following messages appear in /var/log/messages (and dmesg) when the drive locks up during the second burn. I've therefore filed this bug as I suspect a kernel issue The behaviour is perfectly reproducible on my hardware, but I'll be uploading a hwinfo promptly. First Noticed: This occurred in openSUSE 11.4, but still happens in latest 12.1 Steps to Reproduce Burn a DVD or CD-R Burn a second DVD or CD-R - this burn will fail and the drive will stop working Reboot, drive will work again and you can burn a single DVD or CD-R Expected behaviour I shouldn't need to reboot after every DVD I burn.. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
