The same YaST printer module works also for older openSUSE versions and for SUSE Linux Enterprise. As long as there are openSUSE versions and SUSE Linux Enterprise where the ncpfs package exists that functionality will be available in the YaST printer module. In practice it would not work well to test for the openSUSE version in the YaST printer module and hide/disable the IPX print queue stuff for openSUSE 12.2 and later because then users get no information at all what is going on. Currently you get at least the information that you need a package that provides "ncpfs" to access IPX print queues. Perhaps it might work to install it from an older openSUSE version? Reasoning: 1) It is not possible with reasonable effort for me to maintain it when the dialogs would behave different for different products. I would have to check all our various products which packages are available in each one. 2) When a package that yast2-printer knows about is not available to be installed, I want intentionally to show this fact to the user so that the user is at least informed that such a package is needed. 3) The user should be allowed to add a repository that provides missing packages. Bottom line: It works as intended so that the issue is no bug. FYI: I don't know how to access IPX print queues nowadays.
