[Bug 776078] New: System backup saved with incorrect filename when
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=776078 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=776078#c0 Summary: System backup saved with incorrect filename when Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.1 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: mike.catanzaro@gmail.com QAContact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/535.4+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0 Safari/535.4+ SUSE/12.1 (3.2.1) Epiphany/3.2.1 I tried to run a backup and save the tarball to my FreeAgent Go Flex removable hard drive. The tarball should have been saved with the filename /media/FreeAgent GoFlex Drive/aug152012.tar Instead, it was saved with the filename /media/FreeAgent Which of course means that my backup is now sitting on my computer, and never made it to the external drive. (And doesn't even look like a backup at all, since it doesn't have any file extension.) But if you don't check to make sure it worked properly, then you're left with the impression that everything worked - until you try to restore your data and discover that nothing's there. (This actually happened to me a while back, but I didn't realize what happened until now.) I've tried this with a couple of other filenames and can confirm that the problem is the space. Backups work fine only if there's no space in the file path. Reproducible: Always The xml file is always saved in the correct location! For example, YaST created an XML file at the path /media/FreeAgent GoFlex Drive/aug152012.xml I only tested this using the GTK+ interface. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
