I have fresh installed openSUSE 12.2 RC2 and get the following issue: subwoofer does not play anything :-(. As a workaround I need to go into systemsettings (KDE) and choose 'audio output 5.0' and 'ausio output 5.1' again. After this subwoofer works well.. until next reboot.
