[Bug 386535] New: low disk space warning every minute
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=386535 Summary: low disk space warning every minute Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Beta 1 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE3 AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: suse-beta@cboltz.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- My home partition is nearly full, which causes the "low disk space" warning dialog to appear. Unfortunately this dialog appears every minute (or so) after clicking "Nichts unternehmen" (do nothing) which is extremely annoying. I would expect the "do nothing" button to silence the warning for this session, or at least until the remaining disk space was _significantly_ reduced (I'd say half of it is used now). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

(The free disk space on /home is still below 200 MB in the dialog.)
Such sentences are the result of changing the text one time too much :-/ What I wanted to say: The warning limit is set to 200 MB in the dialog (which is the default value), and I have less than 200 MB free on /home. (The other parts of comment #2 should be understandable.) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The timeout for the 'do nothing' action is 1 hour (where 'do nothing' means 'do nothing _now_').
Then my computer must have a strange idea about how long an hour is - I'm sure I have seen the warning re-appearing after only 1 to 5 minutes several times... (But there have also been larger delays, so at least sometimes it seems to work correctly.) Why not changing "do nothing" to disable the warning for the whole session? IMHO the timeout of 1 hour is too short.
If you're fine with having less than 200MB free, maybe you just need to reduce the limit?
For now, I decided to free some space - but that's only a workaround ;-) as the same thing will happen when I get below the reduced limit. (If you want a really good bugfix, send me a bigger harddisk for my laptop *g*) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
