[Bug 252048] New: Please cache downloaded files
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=252048 Summary: Please cache downloaded files Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Alpha 1plus Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: libzypp AssignedTo: kkaempf@novell.com ReportedBy: mboman@novell.com QAContact: kkaempf@novell.com I wanted to see if there's any updates in Factory so that I can update my computer. So I hit "Software Management" in YaST who starts downloading all these files (packages, packages.en, packages.de etc). After 35mb of downloads, it's done and it shows me the following error message; http://mirror.pacific.net.au/linux/opensuse/distribution/SL-OSS-factory/inst... fails checksum verification. This is all good and I don't have a problem with that... But then, I do the same the next day, and again, it downloads 35mb worth of stuff before showing me the same error message. My point with this bug is, that surely, it shouldn't be necessary to download ALL of this again?. It should have been enough for it to download ONLY packages.en. The other files should already be on disk since the mirror have not changed between these two attempts (just checked the date of the files on the mirror) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=252048 ma@novell.com changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|NEW |RESOLVED Resolution| |INVALID ------- Comment #1 from ma@novell.com 2007-03-08 07:42 MST ------- No, the other files are no longer on disk. We downloaded the files, found the files are broken and discarded them. We keep consistent data, but why should we keep broken data? People will complain about wasting disk space! We think about ways to reduce the amount of data to download when refreshing a source. But we won't implement a proxy in zypp. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
