I double checked and now it's definitely: strict -> Report and do not let the driver load You can override this by: acpi_enforce_resources=lax (or no to even avoid the message) This might make the nForce smbus stuff work. If yes, you might come away with it as long as ACPI does not touch these IO ports (at the same time the smbus driver does). Otherwise you (and ACPI) might see weird sensor results which may result in weird behavior, e.g. shutting down the machine after some days, because ACPI got a huge value when trying to read the temperature. ACPI might not use these ports at all, but simply define them, but one needs to double check the ACPI tables for that. -> In this case this will get a won't fix as we have to be conservative and if the ports are defined in ACPI, but not used, this can be considered a BIOS bug for which even a workaround is provided. If acpi_enforce_resources=lax does not work, the problems has to be searched in the smbus driver area. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Not all nForce-based boards are affected, and many boards with other chipsets are affected as well. The key here is the ACPI BIOS and whether or not it requests the I/O ports of the SMBus controller for its own use. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
