Nothing packages of gdm. I'll checked with zypper se -i gdm. Problem in /etc/init.d/boot.local wich default content this script: if test -f "/home/linux/.dmrc"; then rm /home/linux/.dmrc fi if cat /proc/cmdline | grep -q kde; then sed -i -e "s:^DEFAULT_WM=.*:DEFAULT_WM=kde4:" /etc/sysconfig/windowmanager sed -i -e "s:^DISPLAYMANAGER=.*:DISPLAYMANAGER=kdm4:" /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager else sed -i -e "s:^DEFAULT_WM=.*:DEFAULT_WM=gnome:" /etc/sysconfig/windowmanager sed -i -e "s:^DISPLAYMANAGER=.*:DISPLAYMANAGER=gdm:" /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager fi if cat /proc/cmdline | grep -q noeffects; then mv /usr/bin/compiz-manager /usr/bin/compiz-manager-backup fi If i remove this script or comment it, then DM will changed ok. Then please remove this script from /etc/init.d/boot.local Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install openSUSE Education l-i-f-e 11.4 2. Change value DISPLAYMANAGER=gdm on kdm in /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager 3. Reboot Actual Results: I have gdm. Expected Results: Must be kdm. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Up to the developers to decide about the best solution. Jigish: I'm assigning this bug to you at the moment, as I guess you know whom to contact to discuss and fix the problem. Maybe there are other solutions, but with the current one, someone has to edit the boot.local init script, which is indeed not the best/right solution. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
