I've installed OpenSUSE 11.4 on multiple machines, and the only one that this fails on also has the following applications installed which may be related to the problem: Cisco ANYConnect VPN Client VMware Player Note the following logs that are generated when I try to perform the same actions as YaST via the command-line (i.e. via "chkconfig --level 35 ntp on"): insserv: warning: script 'K01vpnagentd_init' missing LSB tags and overrides insserv: warning: script 'vpnagentd_init' missing LSB tags and overrides insserv: FATAL: service network is missed in the runlevels 2 to use service VMware insserv: exiting now! /sbin/insserv failed, exit code 1 Hopefully this information helps track down this bug. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Your workstation seems to be in runlevel 2. In this runlevel there is no running network. ntp requires this.
