Turn the "Create Image" into a dialog box with a progress bar (I guess extra work would need to be done on tracking kiwi's progress), and above it could have the text of the relevant section, i.e.: _____________________________________ | Compressing Image... | |###################### | | Abort | |___________________________________| ..sorry for the crude portrayal. If there's an error then that small bottom pane could be shown with the error output, and on fail/success there could be a button along the lines of "View Full output" or "Save Output to File.." I'm not even sure that my main task for 11.0 - keeping YaST Image Creator working with latest kiwi - was success, although I hope so. For features on what to implement it's worth taking a look at Fedora's respin creator. It didn't work when I tried to create the stock KDE live CD image from the kiwi-config-openSUSE-kde-11.0-109.3 package (trying to build a completely default live iso image too now).
Could you specify, what exactly didn't work? AFAIR the same task worked for me...
For features on what to implement it's worth taking a look at Fedora's respin creator. KIWI's a LOT more powerful than their tool, but they do have a really nice and simple GUI app which is better for new users I think.
