[Bug 761410] New: Firefix-bin uses 80-90 % cpu while using URL http://www.telegraaf.nl/dft/ and plugin-container goes up as well 40-50 after some time
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=761410 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=761410#c0 Summary: Firefix-bin uses 80-90 % cpu while using URL http://www.telegraaf.nl/dft/ and plugin-container goes up as well 40-50 after some time Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.1 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Firefox AssignedTo: bnc-team-mozilla@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: f.leerink@xs4all.nl QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: Customer Blocker: --- Hello, I experience the following problem during the use of Firefox browser. Browsing URL's normally works good, but if I browsemy news paper URL http://www.telegraaf.nl/ and especially the dft/ tab than the response of my netbook becomes irritating slow. Looking with the top command always shows that firefox-bin uses 80-90 % of the cpu and after 3-4 minutes go down to 40-60 % CPU but at the same time the plugin-container goes up from 1-2 % to 40-50 % cpu. I don't know whether this is a Firefox problem or a problem in the newspaper URL. If it is caused by the Newspaper URL I like to confront them with your answer on this question. In case of plugin-container that is usually the process which holds Flash. Not really in scope to do anything about that. For the firefox-bin usage I'm wondering if that is the scrolling news frame which seems to have several overlays which scroll through. On that topic this recent post might be of interest. http://www.hackermusings.com/2012/05/firefoxs-graphics-performance-on-x11/ When I get to it I'll check that myself but in case you want to try meanwhile. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I have never been to that site. I normally leave this computer up 24/7, but since installing 12.1, after a few days, performance gets so bad that the computer is unusable. Killing plugin-container appears to help, but if I do that I can no longer use the Alt-F2 function to open, for example, a Google search. I have never experienced anything like this in earlier versions of openSUSE. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
