In Tumbleweed, kate version 18.12.0 reopen a file and always place the cursor on top, it doesn't remember the previous cursor position.
Indeed. It's a regression in 18.04 already, btw, I can reproduce it with 18.04.3 from https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Applications:/18.04/openSUSE... too (but as you write, it's working in 17.12.3). This only seems to happen with an unnamed session though. If you explicitly save the session and reopen it, it seems to work fine. Anyway, I highly doubt that this is an openSUSE specific problem.
