[Bug 256728] New: AC adapter status not recognised correctly on HP Compaq nx6125 under OpenSUSE 10.2
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=256728 Summary: AC adapter status not recognised correctly on HP Compaq nx6125 under OpenSUSE 10.2 Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: benjamin@stukenberg.net QAContact: qa@suse.de Booting my notebook a HP Compaq nx6125 (PY476ET) without the AC adapter connected OpenSUSE 10.2 wrongly thinks that it is connected: cat /proc/acpi/ac_adapter/C173/state state: on-line When connecting and than disconnecting the AC adapter while OpenSUSE 10.2 is up and running the AC adapter status is then determined correctly: cat /proc/acpi/ac_adapter/C173/state state: off-line This is an annoying problem because I have to switch to the power save mode manually e.g. with KPowersave and I don't get an estimated battery lasting time. The problem only occurs with OpenSUSE 10.2. In OpenSUSE 10.1 and Kubuntu 6.10 this particular problem does not appear. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

This should already be fixed. I tried to verify with an nc6400, but it works. Does it work if you rmmod ac module and modprobe it again? Adding Ihno and Stefan..., maybe someone can reproduce this on an nx6125, do we still have such a machine somewhere (maybe not Ihnos?). https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=256728 ------- Comment #7 from trenn@novell.com 2007-03-26 10:06 MST ------- This sounds not like some general (ac adapter unrelated) ACPI bug like there were several on the HPs. Maybe it's just a bug in the very specific BIOS version you are using? Could you check your BIOS version via dmidecode, pls. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=256728 ------- Comment #8 from benjamin@stukenberg.net 2007-03-26 10:12 MST ------- This problem appears only in OpenSUSE 10.2. In OpenSUSE 10.1 and Kubuntu 6.10 this particular problem does not appear so it's probably a bug in OpenSUSE 10.2. Hmm, I compared drivers/acpi/ac.c of our 2.6.18 with latest vanilla and there are only sysfs no logic changes. Do you get any other ACPI warning/error somewhere else in dmesg? No time for that right now, but if we should be able to reproduce this here, I'll have a look. You may want to give latest 10.3 Alpha a try, if the problem still exists there, priority is higher. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
