There has been various fixes for RS4xx afterwards, so that there is still some hope that the issue will be fixed with a newer driver release. With the recent drm and ddx changes these chips have been reported to work now with the DRI. Unfortunately the hardware we once had for testing somewhat vanished. This makes testing for ourselves impossible.
