It's a long time, cause I not have an environment in hand for reproducing this bug, would you mind test this in new version in OpenSUSE 10.3 or 11.0? And I'm not sure what syntax is wrong, I'll also review the code, and reply you later. It only happens when using a tun device and I guess some syntax is wrong because it says: "WARNING: Since you are using --dev tun, the second argument to --ifconfig must be an IP address. You are using something (255.255.255.0) that looks more like a netmask. I reviewed the openvpn code, you should use the preshared-key, I doubted you have a wrong configuration for connecting the openvpn server. So would you mind change the configuration in NetworkManager, select the 'Use the TAP device', and then try again. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Using tun within NetworkManager's config is failing with the above error while using tap within NetworkManager works. So this is obviously a bug, sorry. If openvpn works, then NetworkManager has to work as well. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I just have a tun OpenVPN server for testing, when I use the tap device in openvpn, it prompt wrong route setting, it can't work at all. So if you don't mind, would you mind paste your log when connecting VPN server with openvpn directly by using tun device. I reviewed the code found "do_ifconfig" is void function, so when you use the wrong configuration, it don't exit at all. In NetworkManager, it will watch the child process status, I doubt that when found ifconfig failed it prompt the connection is failed. I need your NetworkManager's log, you could run NetworkManager --no-daemon in console, so that we can get their plugins debug info.
