I'm confused...you either reproduced the bug or you didn't? I just scrounged up a 3Gig laptop and did a COLD BOOT with this CD. Battery is dead in digital camera so screen shot will be a while, but most of what it says.. 12.1 "Asparagus" Kernel 3.1.0-1.1 [ 132.404995] systemd-readahead-collect[996] Failed to open pack file: Read-only file system It appears the startup is expecting to have a writable disk drive for unpacking files. Perhaps this is only a cold boot issue, like the login screen eating the first password you give it. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Well, most of us don't regularly read boot messages or look at those log files which don't have the common decency to end in .log -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

If you check the messages file, you see a lot of errors such as Nov 9 07:11:11 linux kernel: [ 71.838698] Buffer I/O error on device sr0, logical block 334526 Nov 9 07:11:11 linux kernel: [ 71.838922] Buffer I/O error on device sr0, logical block 334527 Nov 9 07:11:11 linux kernel: [ 71.839173] Buffer I/O error on device sr0, logical block 334528 Nov 9 07:11:11 linux kernel: [ 71.839397] Buffer I/O error on device sr0, logical block 334529 These make it very likely that either your drive is broken, dirty or something OR your medium is broken. The driver report errors constantly while it tries to read from the CD. And finally YaST dies from a seg fault, probably because loaded libs are rubbish in memory. I will close this bug as invalid because it proofs that the error is either in your drive or the medium.
