But after googling I found out, that wheel is recognized as 4 and 5, and extra keys get higher numbers. http://snpi.dell.com/sna/images/products/mlrg/570-10391.jpg I have two such mice, the one is for Dell E6500 and the second for D6120. In first case the first one was working automagically (even including installation), in the second I still have problem to make it work automatically (from the start), but in both cases scrolling does not work. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Using /dev/input/mouse<X> instead of /dev/input/mice could be the reason, why it doesn't work.
For me it works also when using /dev/input/mouse0 instead of /dev/input/mice. So this is likely not the issue here. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

a) which one of those kernels?
It's just one kernel; these days, kernels are separated into -base and -extra sub-packages. You normally need only -base and -default.
b) how can I do it _safely_?
Just install it, you'll have separate kernel options added into your grub menu in /boot/grub/menu.lst
c) my situation is changed a lot -- now my mouse does not work at all but it is caused (maybe?) that the BT module is not detected at all (hcitool scan) -- I already report this issue.
OK, please make this bug dependent on the bluetooth bug then, so that we can proceed when your bluetooth is working again. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
