The updateinfo.xml and repodata.xml looks also to be complete for that patch providing these packages. The plain installation of the packages via rpm is working but zypper in openSUSE-release is also broken. Thus the solver thinks updating the -release package will delete the product. Adding the product metadata you'll get:

So updating would actually de-install the product. Unfortunatly, we do not have any code yet to add product data to rpm-md data, it exists just for suse meta data. The repo shipping openSUSE-release-12.1-2.1 has no product metadata for product:openSUSE-12.1-2.1. Thus the solver thinks updating the -release package will delete the product.
But I installed the patch successfully before it was pulled, and product:openSUSE-12.1-2.1 seems to have been there.
