Potentially a DUP of bug 850137 (which was failed later, but at this moment has more information).
Mustafa: what Desktop Environment are you using? What Window Manager?
KDE and kwin (tried other configurations, same problem) (In reply to comment #2)
Try to pass acpi_backlight=vendor boot option. Many recent laptops have a broken ACPI backlight control since Windows 8 doesn't use it any longer.
acpi_backlight=vendor fixes the problem, why it is not default? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Because this option breaks many other laptops :) The upstream 3.14 kernel has some relevant fix, but it's applied per DMI-basis. For checking whether it covers your machine, try the latest 3.14-rc kernel (e.g. from OBS Kernel:HEAD). If it doesn't work without the option, we need to report to upstream, either in Kernel Bugzilla or LKML. In that case, please provide the output of dmidecode. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Does it still happen? If so, this patch should be worth trying...
It doesn't happen in newer kernels (openSUSE 13.2 and Tumbleweed), now I installed 13.1 again but I don't know how to apply this patch :) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
