Then I restarted X, once by logging out and twice witch ctrl-alt-backspace (playing around with compiz). After that again banshee from the menu didn't find dbus, from the terminal it did. I must note that this is the first time I did this (restart X), so this might not be the only cause for the bug. However AT_SPI_IOR is set on the root window and at-spi-registryd is running. It's weird because I just get it set up with a number of RSS podcast feeds on Saturday morning and was listening happily. Then, Sunday, started getting the D-BUS alert on start up of Banshee. Podcasts appear on screen, but when I click on one, the only thing that happens is the Play button in the upper left goes to a Pause button. I tried logging in and out and rebooting several times. I tested that my sound system still works by playing a DVD with VideoLan. In Banshee, I also tried playing the Radio streams with the same results as the podcasts. No sound. And the timer doesn't change (stays at 0:00).
