[Bug 728532] New: Grub2 / efi bootloader not available for install from Install DVD on UEFI based system
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=728532 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=728532#c0 Summary: Grub2 / efi bootloader not available for install from Install DVD on UEFI based system Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: RC 2 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Bootloader AssignedTo: jsrain@suse.com ReportedBy: lumnis@email.de QAContact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.7; rv:7.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/7.0.1 When installing from the DVD 64bit, in the bootloader configuration, grub2 / efi is not available. Despite the general news about the new openSUSE 12.1 using grub2, it is not available during the installion process. Only legacy grub is available, resulting in an unusable installation on UEFI systems - as the Message also stated when choosing it. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start Installation from DVD 2. On the Installation Summary - go to the Bootloader section and change to the second tab 3. Drop-Down List for bootloaders does not contain grub2. Actual Results: elilo seems the only working suggestion, as set as default automatically. Expected Results: grub2 - efi enabled version is available for install -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

We don't have yet grub2 / efi available in yast2. For those who know how, grub2 is available but all configuration need to be done by hand. I would not drive you on a wrong way, but it seems elilo/efi would be better supported, but I can't promise without having tested it personally. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
