Does pgadmin3 use any features in libpq and libecpg that did not exist before PostgreSQL 9.3? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=854754 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=854754#c2 --- Comment #2 from Stelian Ionescu <sionescu@cddr.org> 2013-12-12 11:38:24 UTC --- According to http://git.postgresql.org/gitweb/?p=pgadmin3.git;a=blob;f=INSTALL;hb=REL-1_1..., the minimum required PostgreSQL libraries are version 8.4; also the source code of 1.18.1 has no mention of libecpg and /usr/bin/pgadmin3 does not link to it so I think it's an unnecessary dependency. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

But I am still interested to hear if there was a speciffic reason to require libpq5 from PostgreSQL 9.3 or newer. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I guess it was the only way to make it build ... But still the repository for the moment is a bit of mess since September. see my others bugs hanging for the extensions. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

No good reasons.
OK, then I'll remove it.
I guess it was the only way to make it build ...
Can't be, because it was a "Requires", not a "BuildRequires".
But still the repository for the moment is a bit of mess since September.
Yes, and that's mainly because of a shortcoming in the build service that I have to work around in the packages. If several source packages in a project produce binary RPMs that have the same name, but different versions, the build service always only knows about the one that was built last when fulfilling build dependencies. But I am over it and promise that things will get better very soon now. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
