[Bug 731598] New: widget for battery does not show time in hours:minutes
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=731598 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=731598#c0 Summary: widget for battery does not show time in hours:minutes Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Workspace AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: philippniehues@yahoo.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686) AppleWebKit/535.8 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/17.0.922.0 Safari/535.8 SUSE/17.0.922.0 I had a Kubuntu (I think) under my fingers and noticed, that they had the time in hours:minutes in the battery widget, if you click on it. Did not find a way to enable it. So maybe it is not "here"? I think it is very useful to have not only the percentage, but some concrete values. 50% on one computer is different to most others. I read about the problems with non-technical users, who might be confused, if it suddenly changes from 20min to 15, but I do not think that it is very problematical, because you have both values btw. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. click on the battery widget (notebooks only) 2. 3. Actual Results: only percentage to guess how much left Expected Results: time to have an idea how much I can work with 50% round-about -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

If you google for it, you will find losts of discussions about it. The main point seems to be the time is in many cases to reliable. And old howto to change it is http://hanschen.org/2010/03/14/remaining-time-in-the-battery-monitor-widget/ I have not tried if this still works with KDE 4.7, but I guess it should. Closing as upstream. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I am not sure if it works. I did it exactly that way except I changed (of course in all commands) desktop to netbook as I use that. Of course I pulled the plug and even waited for some time, but yet there is nothing shown. I hope it is okay, that I created a discussion to find out, how others think about this: https://features.opensuse.org/313002 -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
