https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=827953 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=827953#c0 Summary: No automatic updates of kernel possible. Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE.org Version: unspecified Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: 3rd party software AssignedTo: dmacvicar@suse.com ReportedBy: itsbo@fz-juelich.de QAContact: opensuse-communityscreening@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: Community User Blocker: --- No automatic updates of kernel possible. Patches for kernel updates are marked interactive and are always skipped. - Is it intended behaviour that you can not automatically update the kernel? How to reproduce: The online-update script creates a command as follows (please note the absence of "--skip-interactive") and nothing happens: $/usr/bin/zypper up -y -t patch Loading repository data... Reading installed packages... Warning: Patch 'openSUSE-2013-175-1' is interactive, skipping. Warning: Patch 'openSUSE-2013-440-1' is interactive, skipping. Warning: Patch 'openSUSE-2013-512-1' is interactive, skipping. Resolving package dependencies... Nothing to do. Nothing happens if you use "-n": $/usr/bin/zypper -n up -t patch Loading repository data... Reading installed packages... Warning: Patch 'openSUSE-2013-175-1' is interactive, skipping. Warning: Patch 'openSUSE-2013-440-1' is interactive, skipping. Warning: Patch 'openSUSE-2013-512-1' is interactive, skipping. Resolving package dependencies... Nothing to do. Only if you use the interactive version, the kernel-update gets installed. $/usr/bin/zypper up -t patch Loading repository data... Reading installed packages... Resolving package dependencies... The following NEW patches are going to be installed: openSUSE-2013-175 openSUSE-2013-440 openSUSE-2013-512 The following package is going to be upgraded: kernel-default 1 package to upgrade. Overall download size: 37.2 MiB. After the operation, additional 22.2 KiB will be used. Continue? [y/n/?] (y): Apparently with a kernel-update "--skip-interactive" is pointless. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
