[Bug 692236] New: GNOME window manager, menus, etc. gone

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=692236 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=692236#c0 Summary: GNOME window manager, menus, etc. gone Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Final Platform: 64bit OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: erget2005@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Community User Blocker: --- After installing GNOME 3 on top of the old GNOME on OpenSUSE 11.4 on my laptop, GNOME worked correctly (albeit without being able to use external monitors properly, but that's another problem). After restarting the computer twice, though, GNOME mysteriously stopped showing any menus. The task manager wasn't present and I couldn't even start a terminal with a right click on the desktop. Luckily I'd had a keyboard shortcut set up to open a terminal and could run applications - even with normal windows. Any shortcuts like Alt+F2 or Alt+F1, etc. didn't work any more. I think the problem might be because of a missing dependency somewhere - YaST had complained about needing libcheese-gtk19 and not being able to find it - but that was the only missing dependency that popped up. I'm trying it again using the GNOME 1-click-install, will report if that fixes things. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

This problem does not happen with 12.1. Did the reinstall help? If it did, please set the status to RESOLVED/INVALID as it would be due to an installation glitch. If it did not, please report that and clear the NEEDINFO. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

No, the reinstall didn't help. Currently I'm back using KDE so I don't have much more information about the problem. I haven't tried to use GNOME for a good couple of months. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
