[Bug 747787] New: CanoScan LiDE 210 (genesys) scan-head does not return after xsane scan
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=747787 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=747787#c0 Summary: CanoScan LiDE 210 (genesys) scan-head does not return after xsane scan Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: mail@emma-atkinson.co.uk QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:10.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/10.0.1 When I use xsane to scan a document the scan head does not go back to home. When you scan the next document, the head carries on from its resting position. It will drive the scan head to the far end stops with the motor making an unhealthy noise. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. For safety's sake, begin by selecting scan area ending less than 33% of the max length using the xsane Preview. 2.Scan the selected part of the document using xsane. 3. Select the Scan again. Actual Results: 1. The scan head will return home at the end of the preview scan. 2. Observe that the scan head does not return home, but parks at the end of scanned area. 3. The head will move further toward the end stops. If you repeat again you will get close to or hit the end stops with the motor running. Expected Results: 1. The scan head will return home at the end of the preview scan. 2. The scan head will return home at the end of the full scan. 3. The scan head will return home at the end of the full scan. The problem does not exist on selecting a Preview. Taking a Preview between each Full Scan will return the scan-head to home. The problem also does not exist on OpenSuSE 12.1 i586 under Gnome 3, nor does it happen on Mint 12 32-bit on the same PC. The problem does not exist on my Acer Netbook running Ubuntu 11.10 Unity. I cannot determine whether it is a problem with x86-64 build libusb_1, libusb_0 or the genesys back-end code for the 64-bit options. I note the problem was reported on the forum on OpenSuSE 11.4 for a CanoScan LiDE 60. See http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-technical-help-here/hardware/462977-c... The problem does not exist when using scanimage. E.g.:
scanimage -y 120 -v --resolution 600 --progress --mode Color >out.pnm

I will report on bugzilla if and when I can reproduce the bug again. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- We do not have a CanoScan LiDE 60 so that we cannot reproduce it on our own and when we cannot reproduce an issue there is basically nothing we can do. For now I close it as "worksforme". If more information appears later (i.e. when you can reproduce it again), the bug can be reopened. When you can reproduce it again, please provide debug information, see "Trouble-Shooting (Debugging)" at http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Configuring_Scanners -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
