[Bug 613907] New: [rpmlint] libproxy1.x86_64: W: shlib-policy-nonversioned-dir /usr/lib64/libproxy
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=613907 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=613907#c0 Summary: [rpmlint] libproxy1.x86_64: W: shlib-policy-nonversioned-dir /usr/lib64/libproxy Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Factory Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: dominique.leuenberger@tmf-group.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- For a long time, the warning is in the package and does not really make sense: libproxy1.x86_64: W: shlib-policy-nonversioned-dir /usr/lib64/libproxy libproxy1.x86_64: W: shlib-policy-nonversioned-dir /usr/lib/libproxy Your shared library package contains non-versioned directories. Those will not allow to install multiple versions of the package in parallel. I know it's a warning and can potentially be ignored, but I don't think that's a point for a warning. Libproxy for example creates a subfolder with it's version below those mentioned folders, in order to ensure they can be installed in parallel. (%{_libdir}/libproxy/0.4.3) As such I suggest to rework the warning to be spewed out only in case there are actually files in the folder at question (directories do not conflict on installation; it can be owned by more than one package; only files can't) -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I think its doable, but not high prio for me as it is just a "minor" artefact for this one package.
sure, nothing to complain there... the package builds fine and it's a warning only. (anyhow: changed the package to install it's modules to %{_libdir}/%{name}-%{version} now, thus avoiding the subfolders, which pollutes %{_libdir} a bit more... questionable which one is nicer / better. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
