It is really funny, because neither typing it to adress bar, neither a click on a link work. All what I get is a "Connecting..." string on top of a tab with a busy animated icon. Looking at Web Console it is obvious why page is not loaded - Firefox don't send any GET(!). This is the last GET I have in Console when clicking on lwn.net link. [13:22:12.259] GET http://www.google.cz/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&sqi=2&ved=0CCwQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Flwn.net%2F&ei=wzL9UOueGIea9QSroICoBQ&usg=AFQjCNFNMwjpDqqVlO_oa5IXrcbLw0EmWg&bvm=bv.41248874,d.eWU [HTTP/1.1 200 OK 230ms] I'm not aware of any extension can block sending of a GET - I've DownThemAll, Flashblock and openSUSE Firefox extentions installed and disabling all of them did not helped. I am not behind any firewall or proxy can block the transfer and I can visit the page using curl or whatever else just fine. What might be a symptom is the automatic completion seems to fill https://lwn.net indtead of plain http, but entering the path including a protocol don't make any difference. BTW: lwn.net works well from an another profile, so this is definitely a configuration problem and I've no clue what might be wrong. Also could you probably try 18.0.1 as provided in the mozilla repo. I do not see obvious changes for that case but to be sure.
