This is what I get when I boot my system and automatic login starts KDE4. Then I have only a half-usable KDE. Everything is ugly and doesn't work reliably.

First of all, can you try updated Mesa packages from X11:XOrg project ( http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/X11:/XOrg/ ) , they are already updated in Factory but not yet published AFAIK.

Upgraded to Mesa 7.11 remotely. I will see if it helps in the evening.

Another thing, what does this command say:

grep OpenGLIsUnsafe ~/.kde4/share/config/kwinrc

OK lets see if Mesa update helps at all, another idea would be to enable desktop effects but using XRender backend instead of OpenGL one.

It seems to be working again. Anyway the ugly behaviour is back when I disable desktop effects manually. That's exactly what I was seeing.
