My sound card model is 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller and driver is snd-hda-intel. When I remove the pulseaudio package and use the alsa instead, I overcome. This only happens with Gnome. KDE works right for me out of the box. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Try listening to any audio file ad/or files from youtube. Actual Results: No sound output. Also, what is the vendor/product name of your machine? I guess it's a Dell, but which model?

This contains the fix patches to be merged to the next update.
Nice. Installed kernel-default-2.6.27.19-5.1.i586 and I get sound right away. By the way, I'm running a fresh install of openSUSE 11.1.
